Privacy Policy

Snaptory (“Snaptory,” “we,” “us”) makes a mobile app and companion web dashboard that let you capture an inventory of physical items by photographing their labels. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

If you have questions, contact us at snaptory@commercebeacon.com.

The short version

  • We collect the photos you take, the details read from them, and a small amount of account and usage data.
  • Label reading happens on your device by default. Only hard-to-read labels are sent to a cloud AI service to help structure the text.
  • We do notsell your data, and we don’t use it to build advertising profiles.
  • You can export or delete your data at any time.

What we collect

Photos and captures. When you capture an item, we store the photo(s) you take and the inventory record you create, so your list is available across your devices.

Location (optional). If you grant location access, Snaptory can attach the GPS coordinates of a place you create — for example a home, unit, or storage location — so your inventory is organized by where items are kept and is more useful for insurance and moving records. Precise location is used only for this purpose. You can decline the permission (the app works without it) and remove a saved location’s coordinates at any time.

Details read from labels. Snaptory reads printed text from a label — typically brand, model, and serial number — to fill in an item. On most devices this text recognition runs on your device (Apple Vision / Google ML Kit) and the image does not leave your phone for that step. Condition and other judgment fields are entered by you; Snaptory never infers condition from a photo.

Cloud structuring (only when needed). For labels that are hard to read, Snaptory may send the label image or its extracted text to a third-party AI service (Google Gemini) to help organize the text into fields. This is used only to provide the feature, not to train that provider’s models.

Account information. To sign you in we use Sign in with Apple or a one-time email “magic link,” which means we store your email address and a user identifier.

Subscription status. Paid plans are processed by Apple, Google, and our billing provider (RevenueCat). We receive your subscription status but do not receive or store your card or payment details.

Usage analytics. We use product analytics (PostHog) to understand which features are used and to fix problems. We record a short list of named events — for example that an export started, or that the paywall was shown — together with an identifier for your device or account. We do not record your screen, capture your taps and clicks automatically, or send PostHog your photos, labels, or item names. There is currently no in-app switch to turn product analytics off. If you want your analytics data erased, email snaptory@commercebeacon.comand see “Your choices and rights” below.

Website analytics. Our website and web dashboard use Google Analytics to measure how people find and move through snaptory.app. It records pages viewed, approximate location (from IP address), and device and browser type. We do not send Google your name, email address, or any of the photos, labels, or item records you create. Google Analytics runs on the website only — it is not in the iOS or Android app. You can opt out across all sites with Google’s browser add-on, or by using your browser’s tracking protection.

Basic technical data. Like most apps, we log limited technical information (app version, device type, error diagnostics) to keep the app working.

How we use your information

  • To provide the core service: capture, organize, sync, and export your inventory.
  • To recognize and structure label text into item fields.
  • To operate subscriptions and restore purchases.
  • To diagnose crashes, improve features, and keep the app secure.

We do not use your photos or inventory content for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.

Where your data is stored

Your account, photos, and inventory records are stored with our hosting and database provider (Supabase) in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit. Access is limited to what’s needed to operate the service.

Who we share data with (sub-processors)

We share data only with service providers that help us run Snaptory, under agreements that limit their use of it:
